Hundreds of taxi drivers came out to City Hall to support a proposal at Public Safety that will lift the cap on taxi permits, allowing drivers to become owner-operators who are free of costly weekly leases and unsafe and exploitative working conditions. The proposal won unanimous support at committee and now we’re heading to City Council and raising funds to buy “T-shirts for Taxi Drivers” to wear in solidarity! We hope to raise enough to buy 500 union made t-shirts!
