Urgent: Governor Brown Please Regulate Civic San Diego! Sign AB 504!
Civic San Diego is a nonprofit corporation and extension of the City of San Diego and the same group trying to spend $1 million in PUBLIC MONEY for a corporate giveaway to a free shuttle business out of the Hampton’s. Assembly Bill 504 by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez is trying to regulate Civic San Diego by requiring more oversight by the City of San Diego. It has made it past the Assembly, the Senate and is now on the Governor’s desk but is at risk of being killed! Civic San Diego has paid lobbyists from downtown interest groups trying to stop it. We are stronger than lobbyists but we need your help! We need you to write individual letters to the Governor to urge him to sign AB 504 into law! You can sign the Editable Word Doc Version or Add Your Name to The PDF Form Letter. We have printed copies at our office and are happy to make sure it gets to Sacramento for you. You can also email the Governor through this link using the template from the letter.
If AB 504 is vetoed, there will be no community benefits policy for Civic San Diego and no Council oversight for major downtown projects! This affects things like the downtown shuttle by putting Civic San Diego on notice that they, as a nonprofit, have to spend OUR money on things that will benefit, not hurt our communities!
